Carbon steel, as the name implies, is a type of steel that is alloyed with carbon in proportions of less than 2% carbon.
This type of steel is also referred to as construction steel. It is estimated that 90% of global steel production belongs to this type of steel.
There are several types of carbon steel depending on the% of carbon they possess, their mechanical characteristics and their utilities:
Extra soft steel (approx 0.15% carbon): mild steel (approx 0.25% carbon), semi-hard steel (approx 0.45% carbon) and hard steel (approx. 0.55% carbon).
